I was born in California in 1971. Shortly after my birth, my parents left Cali for a short stay in Idaho before settling in Grotin, Connecticut. There, my mom and I lived in a small apartment while my dad served aboard the USS Sam Rayburn in the US Navy.
When I was 4, we moved to Decatur, IL, where I spent most of my life. I never did that well in school, as my imagination kept me too busy to pay attention. I had always had a love of epic fantasy, and the first actual fantasy novel I ever read was "The Elfstones of Shannara" by Terry Brooks. From then on, I was hooked.
I developed a love of drawing and painting, and had a great interest in being an artist. However, my first stint in college was at ITT in St. Louis where I studied electronics engineering. After spending about a year and a half alone in a giant city, I came back home. A few years later, I would join the US Army for a short stint toward the end of Operation Desert Storm.
After Returning from the Army, I got married, had a kid, and worked as a landscaper, and occasional laborer with various industrial corporations in the Decatur area.
After getting divorced, I took a trip down to New Orleans, where I lived for about six months. I had $500 in my pocket, and a piece of shit car. I got a job and a place to live the very first night. I tended bar at "The Dungeon" on the corner of Bourbon and Toulouse right there in the French Quarter.
After that strange period, I moved to Defiance, OH to be closer to my extended family. I lived there for about 5 years and worked as the head bartender of an entertainment complex known as JB Shakers/Club Jammers. There, I met some really good friends and musicians.
After another ten or so years of alcholism and moving around, I finally settled back in Decatur, where I began work on Onyx Dragon during a layoff at Caterpillar. From there, history was made and I officially began my writing career. Unfortunately, the relationship I was in was not conducive to my sanity, so I escaped and moved in with my dad in Clinton, Indiana.
I met Lisa through unusual circumstances, and eventually moved in with her in Martinsville, IN. There, I created an alter-ego (see "This Guy" above) and began a new series. Eventually, Lisa and I bought a house in Nashville, IN, and after several months of remodeling it ourselves, we moved in for good.
